Source: Attributed in Adweek, 16 Sept. 1985.Widely attributed to Deng, but there is no evidence that he ever used it. It was popularized by Orville Schell's 1984 book, To Get Rich Is Glorious: China in the '80s. Schell has stated that he probably encountered the phrase in Chinese media reports.
